Bridget Neal Qualifies for New Orleans City Council – District A
New Orleans, LA – July 12, 2025 – Bridget Neal has officially qualified as a candidate for New Orleans City Council, District A, bringing to the ballot a bold platform of structural reform in both governance and service delivery.
Her campaign slogan—“From Blame to Believing”—calls on District A voters to move beyond complaining and toward a renewed belief in good governance and competent public servants.
Bridget Neal is focused on three platform pillars:
Home Rule Charter Reforms
Bridget Neal is proposing focused Charter amendments to strengthen City Council oversight while preserving key partnerships with City Hall. Her approach prioritizes practical safeguards over wholesale restructuring, improving transparency, clarifying authority, and restoring a more balanced, functional relationship between the Council and the administration.
Citizen’s Bill of Rights
Bridget Neal will work with the full Council to adopt enforceable minimum standards for essential services—like water pressure, drinking water safety, and home electrical reliability. A Citizen’s Bill of Rights goes beyond setting expectations; it creates a framework for City Hall and the courts to act when services fall below acceptable levels. It’s the first step in returning power to the people who live here.
One City, One Goal, One Government
Bridget Neal’s platform confronts a central challenge: New Orleans has built a fragmented governance structure that is both inefficient and unaccountable. Core city functions have been outsourced to for-profit contractors, while a weakened internal workforce manages those complex agreements with limited authority, influence, and often expertise.
Meanwhile, over 100 external entities such as boards, commissions, and coalitions operate parallel to City Hall, often with no oversight of the contractors delivering public services while criticizing the very city staff tasked with managing them. Neal believes it’s time to end this disjointed approach and align every public dollar, every public department, and every decision-maker toward one goal: strengthening the essential services residents rely on every day.
Background
Bridget Neal brings proven experience managing complex projects across prestigious institutions including the Smithsonian, NASA, the U.S. Space Force, and George Washington University. Locally, she led an eight-month research initiative in the French Quarter for the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, working directly with city departments in sanitation, public safety, public works, and health. Her findings shaped the French Quarter Revitalization Plan, influenced Louisiana’s Super Bowl strategy, and helped drive legislative changes to the French Quarter Management District.
Ready to Serve
With her qualification complete, Neal is now focused on engaging District A voters and building the partnerships needed to tackle complex service challenges and deliver real
solutions.
The election for New Orleans City Council District A will be held on October 11, 2025.
